At Sharp Eleven Music, we’re dedicated to providing you no-nonsense, practical and most of all accurate music education.
There is a lot of overwhelm and a lot of confusion in music education and we want to give you clarity.
We do this through a 2-step approach:
- Transcription
- Musicology
Transcriptions allow us to get as close as we can to the thinking of the masters of the past and present.
Musicology in the form of historic research provides us with accurate knowledge and helps us untangle the complex history and development of music to where it is today.
It also provides an answer to the question “why don’t I sound like ‘artist X’ even though I’ve been practicing everything I ‘should’ be practicing.
It's no news flash that we get bombarded by information.
In the classroom, on our way to work, in everyday life and especially on the internet.
Information, methods and opinions on music and music theory are no different.
By this point we’ve received an amalgamation of all of the theories that ever existed, mixed together with some half truths and misunderstandings.
Knowing how, when and why the different systems emerged will help us to declutter all of the information.
This in turn will give us clarity and we will be able to choose the right tool for the right job.
